0VI. overall history Twins were not necessarily rare, but common was not the correct description either. For two superstitious parents, twins were lucky. So, Alessandra and Vivian were lucky girls who, like their elder brother, had inherited the family trait of magic.
Their childhood was simple, despite the early death of their father two years after the birth of the twins. The three children took care of one another while their mother worked hours on end. The girls helped her while their brother went to a private tutor one of his friends was willing to share with him; he would later transfer his knowledge to the other two. While her sister was disinterested in most subjects, Vivian was fascinated. She learned quickly and easily, and she never grew bored or tired of the lessons her brother gave her.
When the twins were 17 and their brother 20, Alessandra disappeared one Hallow’s Eve. She reappeared on Christmas, pale-skinned and fanged, with bloodlust far from under control. She killed their mother, and would have killed her sister if Elijah had remained unresponsive. He saved Vivian’s life by restraining Alessandra, and the two tumbled into the snow. Somehow, Elijah had been turned into a werewolf, but he had kept it a secret until then, fighting off Alessandra as only of his kind could.
Vivian took over her mother’s store after that. Elijah visited frequently, after a year or so, Alessandra came by occasionally once the sun was low or had already set. The twins grew close again, although when Elijah and Alessandra were in the same room, conversations were civil at best, and grew into serious altercations at worst. They learned to avoid each other, although both could see the pain it brought Vivian, who stood strong in the middle and attempted to reunite them.
